A Look Into The Future Part I

Since January I have been, checking out the class of 2024 in Texas. I have seen a lot of talented kids who I think have a chance to be really good Hs prospects/players. Last weekend I went to three tournaments, which gave me another opportunity to see some familiar and unfamiliar incoming Texas freshman:

Here is a Look into the Future of some of the prospects I saw that people should expect big things from very soon:

24’ SF Chance Puryear Mudiay Elite- I had heard of this athletic skilled wing before last weekend but I had no idea how good this kid really was. He has a mature game which allows him to score in a plethora of ways and he is a very unselfish passer with good court vision. On the defensive end he will sit in a stance and you from attacking and constantly crashes the boards for rebounds. It’s too early to say where I would rank him in that class but I will say he is one of the top Texas prospects I have seen in the 2024 class so far.

24’ PG Jordan Lowery Drive Nation- This heady point guard plays the position the right way. He plays with good tempo and helps create high percentage shots for his teammates and can score it himself off the catch or bounce. This kid has the IQ, poise and game to do really well in high school and at the level beyond that.

24’ C Cameron Jackson Beast Up Elite 14U- Jackson is a big bodied post man who is physical and hard to score on or stop from scoring because of his power and understanding of how to use his size to his advantage. Jackson has an above average post up game and can score with his back to the basket with baby hooks or drop steps. Jackson proved to spectators that he is one of the top big men prospects in the state for his class.

24’ PG Isayah Pankey DA FAM- The crafty guard, displayed, nifty handles and excellent distribution skills for a lead guard. He has ideal size at 6’2 and can make open jumpers when feet are set.

24’ CG Markel Porter DA FAM- Porter is a stocky guard that can muscle smaller defenders to the basket off the dribble and does a good job of helping his team in the rebounding department.

24’ PG Deontrell Barrett Pro Skills- Barrett is an all point guard who checks all the boxes. This past weekend he scored the rock and facilitated to open team members. He also showed that he can stay front of other guards and make it hard for them to create. Barrett definitely showed why he is one of the top prospects in the state.

24’ PF/C Doryan Onwuchekwa Pro Skills 2024- Doryan is a tall mobile big who moves very well and has good athleticism for his age. He has a lot of tools to work with and he is slowly putting it all together! He scores with his back to the basket, facing up and blocks/rebounds at a good rate. If he Onwuchekwa keeps this up he is going to be Special!

24’ Jackson Ford Drive Nation 2024- Ford is a Man child that is tough, strong physical and athletic. He finishes well through contact or above the rim and is a monster on the glass. Ford is another top prospect in the state that will be on a lot of college coaches radar in the future.

24’ SG Sasha “Dink” Pate Pro Skills 2024- Pate is oozing with potential/upside and has what you want in a shooting prospect. He has a smooth feathery jumper can score going to the rack and size combined with length plus good bounce. He is another Texas prospect a long with several others on this list that can be a household name and I’m not just talking in the State, I mean Nation!

24’ PG Landon Brown Texas Tarheels- Brown is a fast, shifty playmaker who can get past defenders with ease and throw dimes or score it whenever he needs to. It’s still not official but his play this summer is putting him in early discussion as a top 5 caliber prospect in Texas for 2024.

24’ SF Liam McNeeley Drive Nation 2024- McNeeley is a very polished and ultra-skilled wing that will translate to not only a high level in high school but to a plethora of D1 universities. The DFW native is one of few 2024 prospect with college offers and he’ll much more offers down the road.

24’ PF Micah Robinson Drive Nation 2024- Micah is a physical specimen that bullies smaller defenders and is hard to stop from getting to the rim.

24’ SG Tre’ Johnson Drive Nation 2024- Tre is a long lean guard that has good scoring ability from deep and can also score from midrange or attacking the paint. A very talented young prospect with high upside.

24’ SG Santana Spivey 2024 Beast Up Elite- Spivey is a sniper who can fill it up from deep. He is a making a name for himself as one of the best shooters in the stat.

24’ SF Thomas Hunt Mudiay Elite- Hunt has finesse, height and shooting touch from behind the three point line. I like his skillset for his grade and think that he‘s got a bright future in this game if he keeps improving.

24’ Jaylen Washington Proskills- Washington is electric with the basketball and can break defenders down and get to his spots to dish to teammates. Flash point guard who is one of top playmakers in Texas.

24’ PF/C Lekendrick Taylor Mudiay Elite- Taylor is a tall and possesses a long wingspan that helps him to block shots or finish over defenders by the basket with his length. Don’t be surprised to see this kid‘s name jump in the conversation as one of the top bigs in Texas.

PG Jacob Emmers Drive Nation 2024- Emmers is a tough physical athletic guard that has good handles and is a ball hawk defensively. He pushes the rock in transition and can deliver precise passes to his players on the break or finish it himself.
