Last summer I was at Duncanville Fieldhouse covering an AAU tournament and I was getting ready to watch a 15U grassroots team play and as I was getting situated, there was a Coach who came up to me and told me that I picked a good game to watch and to keep an eye out on a 6’6 7th grader from Grand Prairie,Texas who was playing up on 15U with PB Nation named Cameren Paul. I was immediately blown away when he told me the kids height and grade level but I was even more shocked when I saw the kid warming up and noticed how athletic, smooth, and long he was. I wasn’t expecting much from him in the game because he was playing against high schoolers but he showed me why he has a chance to be one of the best prospects in the country for 2025. Paul dominated that game and scored well from multiple spots on the floor while handling the ball well in the open court and using his fluid athleticism and length to finish in transition. He is now an 8th grader and plays at Universal Academy for one of the best Coaches in Texas in Terrelle Woody and in AAU he plays for Team FOE who are considered one of the top 8th grade teams in the Nation directed by Josh Woodson. If Paul continues to develop and work on his game there is no doubt in my mind that he will be on multiple Hs national ranking sites in the next couple of years.
