Texas Hs Team Preview: Waxahachie Indians

The Waxahachie Indians have been one of the top Texas Hs teams these past few years and this years teams has a chance to be really good as well, especially with the size, depth and talent that they possess. The Indians will have one of the top backcourts in Texas with Oklahoma Commit 2021 6’3 G CJ. Noland and Colorado St. Commit 2021 6’4 SG Jalen Lake. The two will be hard for teams to game plan for because they both are unselfish players who are very talented and productive offensively and understand how to score with or without the basketball. The talent doesn’t stop with those two prospects, they also have three key transfers in 2021 PF Montez Young, 2023 PF DarKaun King and 2022 G Prince Banks who all were big time contributors for their respective high school teams.

Prospects To Watch/Player Breakdown

DarKaun King • PF • 2023

King is a skilled big man who has a good back to the basket game and has touch and IQ which helps him score on the inside or step out and knock down midrange jumpers or make passes out of the post. King is one of the top forward prospects in Texas for his class

Montez Young • PF • 2021

Young has an endless motor and his rebounding prowess plus finishing ability is really intriguing especially as an undersized four man. He’s the glue guy that does all of the little things you need on both ends of the floor and his toughness or effort is never the question.

Jalen Lake • SG • 2021

The Colorado St. Commit has the type of game that not a lot of Shooting guards in high school have and thats ability to score on all three levels from the top of the key or off ball and a knack to hit a mid range or long range jumper at a high level.

Prince Banks • G • 2022

The Mexia Hs. transfer banks is a DOG that can attack the Seams defense with his speed plus quickness and on defense you better be mentally prepared to bring the ball up on him because he is going to hound you.

CJ Noland • CG • 2021

Noland is a strong stocky playmaking guard that understands how to use his pace strong frame and craftiness to maneuver by defenders at will. He is a capable shooter that keeps the defense honest from behind the arc. The Oklahoma Commit is a mismatch nightmare because of his physical tools and skillset.

Conclusion

The Indians are arguably in the toughest district in Texas with fellow 6A juggernauts Duncanville, Desoto, SGP to name a few and It’s too early to predict what the outcome will be for them this year but they have the pieces to compete for a district title and More.
