The basketball talent in the state of Texas for the class of 2022 is unbelievable. Today I had the opportunity to watch some of the best prospects in the state and also country compete at the Duncanville Fieldhouse.
Here are the Player Recaps of the prospect who stood out to me:
22 CG Cason Wallace Richardson Hs- Wallace came in with a chip on his shoulder and was trying to prove why he is one of the best two way players in the country. Wallace got downhill with ease and got to third level where he exploded above the cup for one hand hammer dunks. He also showed improvement on his jumpshot by hitting multiple threes today.
2022 PG Nazir Brown LD Bell- Brown had a great day scoring the basketball from the top of the key and showing craftiness with the rock as well as toughness on the defense. This kid may not have an offer as of yet but his solid decision making, scoring off the bounce and competitiveness will earn him one soon.
2022 SG Mason Jones Keller Central- This smooth shooter, has the type of game that translates at the next level. He runs to open spots transition and moves well without the ball and if his feet set you might as well count it because he’s going to knock down the jumper behind the arc.
2022 G Anthony Black Coppell- A lot of people before this summer thought that Black might’ve needed to just focus on football because they believed that his biggest upside was on the Gridiron, but Anthony has shown spectators especially today that he may have just as much upside on the court! The 6’6 athletic combination guard can play on and off the ball, moves extremely well and has above average playmaking ability. He was recently snubbed from a national ranking but, he’ll definitely see his name on future ranking sites.
2022 SG Keyonte George Ischool Lewisville- George was the highest rated prospect in the building and at times he was unstoppable offensively. The Five-Star guard displayed a knack for scoring in a multitude of ways, and when he wasn’t making jumpers off the catch he scored off the bounce and in transition where he made some eye popping dunks.
2022 SG TJ Caldwell Faith Family- Caldwell was one of the least seen 2022 Texas prospect so far this Summer because his grassroots team hasn’t played yet due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He got everybody’s full attention today and when he was attacking the rim it was Showtime at The Apollo and resulted in violent/abusive one hand slams. Caldwell is definitely a top 150 prospect who‘s stock should rise even more.
2022 SF Davonya Jefferson Richardson Berkner- Jefferson had his own personal aerial dunk show today which featured a windmill, through the legs and an alley oop but that was just to name a few of his impressive finishes. On top of his dunking ability he also knocked down the long range jumper off the catch. He is another name who should be seen on future national rankings as well.
2022 PF Zuby Ejiofor Garland- Ejiofor is a dominant imposing 4 man who rebounds, block shots and finishes with authority. He’s got a solid jumper and he attacks opposing bigs from the perimeter and glides to the cup for scores at the rim. He is a man amongst boys that will be a hot commodity for college programs who need productive big men.
2022 PG Austin Benigni Woodlands Christian- Benigni has what you need in a point guard and if I’m a college coach I am recruiting him because he understands how to play the position and is super tough and poised with the basketball. Austin made shots getting to the rim and also from distance and made his teammates better by creating easy shots for them.
2022 Jordan Walsh F Faith Family-Walsh is an athletic swing man who is an exceptional athlete that excels on the break. He can start the break himself and finish with Massive dunks in transition.
2022 Ryan Agarwal SG Coppell- Agarwal is a shooter with ideal size for the two guard position who everytime he shoots it, it looks like it’s going in. Ryan’s jump shot and feel for the game is going to get him on the floor early in often in college.
Thatcher Mcclure F Mckinney- There is always a few players that not many people know about who catches people’s attention and one of those players was Thatcher McClure of Mckinney High. Mcclure has a strong frame and is tough on the interior and he doesn’t mind banging with you on the post but he is also versitile on offense and defense. Mcclure stepped out and hit open shots as well as finished around the paint.
2022 Shawn Jones F Shadow Creek- Jones is a small forward who showcased his perimeter skillset and inside/out game. I think he would be enticing playing at the 4 because versatility and toughness.
2022 Trae Clayton F Faith Family- The Four-Star Clayton slashed to the basket with ease and showed off improvement in his handles and shooting.
2022 Ajani Jamison F Grace Prep- Jamison is another hidden gem that caught my eye today. He did the dirty work down low and showed finesse and soft touch from 18 feet and in.
2022 Kyeron Lindsay F Denton Guyer- Lindsey has a strong frame with broad shoulders and is comfortable facing up or posting smaller defenders. He rebounds his area and can guard multiple positions and is a mismatch offensively.
2022 Josh Thrower PF Frisco Memorial- The long stretch 4 is just starting to scratch the surface on just how good he can be. He is super long and is a solid athlete who can hit the Trey ball and grab boards. A lot of potential in this prospect and I know for fact that he will have multiple schools wanting his services soon.
2023 Drew Steffe SG Frisco Memorial- Steffe is only a freshman but the skilled shooter played with confidence and swagger and made some quality shots off the dribble and off the catch.
2022 Daniel Sykes PG Birdville- Sykes is a tough guard who possesses good playmaking ability and is a tough on ball defender.
2022 Justin Whitmore PF Naaman Forrest- Whitmore is a long, lean and lanky 4-man who plays hard and is active. Showed touch and nice finesse from inside the key.
2022 SG CJ Luster Leadership Prep/FOE Elite- Luster had a good day scoring the basketball at the Best of Both Worlds. The smooth bucket getter drilled threes hit mid range jumpers and in transition. Luster proved to spectators why he is one of the best scorers in the DFW and also the state.
