Yesterday at Duncanville GASO Fall League was my first look at some of the high school varsity teamsin Texas. There was good prospects in teams who were in attendance. Here are some of the young men who stood out to me from this event:
2021 Marcus Rigsby SG Irving Macarthur- Rigsby from the jump displayed his scoring instincts and skill to get to his spots with crafty handle and change of pace.
2021 Kylin Green PG Lewisville- Green did a good job of controlling the tempo and using his blazing speed and quick handles to generate open shots for others and score at a good rate in transition. On defense he slides his feet well and keeps the opposing player from getting by him.
2021 Jordan Roberts SG South Grand Prairie- Roberts is a smooth skilled scoring guard who puts the ball in the rim on or off ball in a hurry.
2021 Juan Reyna SG Duncanville- Reyna is known for his shooting but I liked how he made some nice passes and also scored going to the rim as well as bury shots from long range.
2021 Jaden Flournoy SF- Athletic attacking wing who has a good first step and uses his length, athleticism and frame to finish at the rim. Has the physical tools to be a good two way threat in college
2021 Jevon Flournoy CG South Grand Prairie - Flournoy is a lean athlete who flourishes in transition and loves to attack downhill for tough finishes.
2021 Noah Mcdavid SG/SF Lake Highlands- Mcdavid only played in 1 game but in that game he made shots from multiple spots and looked very comfortable putting the ball on the floor. Mcdavid only has 2 D1 offers but his improvement and evolution to his game could result in more.
2021 Jake Lowak SF Birdville- was an Assassin for the Hawks off the catch. The Unsigned Senior’s had a great weekend shooting the ball and making smart plays.
2021 Zhuric Phelps PG Duncanville- Phelps was locked in all day and he was accelerating past defenders and making good assists or keeping it himself for high percentage shots. Phelps stock is shooting up and I expect for his recruitment to take another leap.
2022 CJ Ford PG Duncanville- The tough muscular guard looked primed and ready to be the primary ball handler for the stacked 2 time defending 6A champions. Ford made good reads and passes to his guys and was not rattled or afraid to make a play on either end of the floor.
2021 Damon Nicholas SF Duncanville- Nicholas is the type of kid that you know as a coach, he’s going to be ready to battle. The physical slasher knifed to the rim at will and scored in traffic. He also showed improvement in his handles and was able to use his dribble to get on the defenders hip off the crossover or hit open shots off the catch.
2023 JaK’obe Walter SG Mckinney- Walter is a silky smooth Scorer that can shoot from long range or hit The mid range pull up jumper. His size, feel, passing ability, skill and touch is why he is one of the best scorers in his class.
2022 Cason Wallace- Wallace was attacking the paint relentlessly and making shots, he also made big time plays on defense.
2023 Bralyn Smith TACA HomeSchool- Smith has ideal size to go with his feathery jumper rebounding and smooth handle.
2022 Robert Jennings TACA Homeschool- was abusing the rim with authoritative dunks and grabbing a handful of boards plus blocking shots. Jennings stepped out as well to the three point line and hit a few jumpers.
2021 Channon Hall Mansfield Summit- Hall is a hard nosed guard who can score the rock and really get after it on the defensive side.
2021 Terin Johnson- Johnson played physical and did a good job of being strong in the paint. I look for him to be the X-factor this year for the Warriors.
2021 Kenny Hardy PF Irving MacArthur- Hardy plays hard at all times and he knows his role. He‘s a physical rebounder but also possesses solid footwork which allows him to score around the cup.
2022 Devin Vincent PG Mckinney - Vincent has a good basketball body, feel/IQ and offensive versatility which was evident yesterday in the two games I witnessed him in.
2023 Parker Hannah- Hannah was the youngest player on his team’s roster, but he was poised and when he was given space he knocked down shots from distance and threw some nifty dimes to his teammates in the half court set.
2022 Alex Anamekwe PF Mckinney— Anamekwe was playing with physicality and using explosiveness to produce versus Keller and Duncanville.
2022 PJ Twa SF McKinney Boyd- Twa is a wiry long prospect Who has range plus touch and rebounds well for his position.
2023 Kyle Layton PG McKinney Boyd- has added muscle since I’ve last seen him and yesterday he did a job of running his team and hitting multiple shots from the outside.
2021 Nick Shogbonyo- came in the game off the bench versus MacArthur and was scoring in transition and helping his team on both ends.
2022 SG/SF Kendall Alexander Mckinney Boyd- is a big athletic wing that is a intriguing prospect that can get it going on offense in a plethora of ways.
2021 Khalil Mahtani PG JJ Pearce- The Crafty guard was solid distributing the basketball and torched the nets from deep.
2021 Walker Timme PF JJ Pearce- Timme scored around the rim and used his strong body and touch to make it hard for opponents to stop.
2023 Jamyron Keller PG Killeen Ellison- has a powerful frame and elite speed and athleticism with the rock in his hands. He is at times unstoppable to keep out of the lane and if you’re not careful he will dunk you. He is also a more than capable shooter that will make you pay if you leave him open.
2021 Jeremy Griffin PG Lake Highlands- Griffin is a bit Under the Radar in terms of recruitment and after watching him yesterday I’m convinced he’s an all around point guard who can score, facilitate, guard and make others better.
2021 Derrick Talton PG Arlington Martin- is a speedy guard who can change directions and get wherever he wants with the basketball. Shot the ball well and created scoring opportunities for his guys.
2022 Jaelyn Brooks SG Round Rock- Brooks is an enticing shooting guard prospec who can get to the rim with his deadly first step or drill shots on the perimeter.
2021 Kobe Wiggins PG Wylie- The stocky guard has nifty crossovers and change of pace to help him get by defenders with ease.
2022 Jordan Hudgins PF Wylie- Hudgins exhibited toughness and used his stocky build and effort to snag boards as well finish on the interior.
2021 Wade Taylor PG Lancaster- Taylor was big for his squad yesterday and the nationally ranked guard was Dynamic and brilliant as a playmaker.
2021 Elijah Hughey SG Lancaster- Hughey looked good in his debut with the Tigers. He made jumpers and showed improved bounce by finishing with a two hand flush in one of his two games that I watched.
2021 Jalen Lake SG Waxahachie- Lake was hitting his patented mid range and long range jumper with such ease and grace.
2021 CJ Noland CG Waxahachie- The big three-star guard used his handles in a very strategical way to allow him to get on a defenders hip and get to the rack. Noland is one of the most productive guards in the State.
2021 Jalen Williams SF Lancaster- The jack of all trades swingman did was doing what he always does when he’s court and that’s produce. He guarded the opposing teams best player, attacked from the wing and made some tough shots in the lane.
2023 Ronald Holland PF Duncanville- Holland is a rebounding machine who plays with an Elite Motor and is a really athletic prospect who is exciting to watch in transition because of his flying expertise.
2024 Tre Johnson Lake Highlands- Johnson did not look like a Freshman yesterday and his skill and shooting stroke was a beauty to watch. Special young talent.
2023 Samson Aletan PF/C Lake Highlands- This kid was probably the most pleasant surprise for me because before yesterday I had never seen the long, lanky 6’8 big man. He is not a finished product yet but he impacts the game by altering shots and rebounding the basketball.
2021 Montez Young PF Waxahachie Young is as tough as they come! He might not be the tallest 4 man but his heart and will to out rebound other opposing bigs is what caught the eye of multiple coaches in attendance yesterday.
2022 Rylan Griffen SG Richardson - a three level scorer who is bouncy and will elevate to drain shots from midrange to behind the arc. He had multiple possessions where shows off those skill sets.
2021 Javen Hutton PG Arlington- Hutton was a speeding bullet in the open court and he constantly pushed the ball and made some good decisions which led to points.
2021 Tre’juan Hinkle CG Keller- Hinkle is fast in the open court and is a capable shooter.
2023 Clyde Cummings PF Birdville- The strong body sophomore played physical and scored around the basket through contact.
2021 Tay Mosher PF Colony- Mosher was shooting the leather off the ball yesterday and he was automatic when his feet were set. A skilled stretch four that you must know where he’s at when he’s on offense.
2021 Gannon Parker PF/C- A big bruising big man who uses his body, strong hands to catch post entry passes where he’ll score on the block off drop steps or with touch near the rim.
2023 Gerhig Normand SG Birdville- The skilled sniper is starting to put it all together as a basketball player. Normand displayed versatility by Initiating the offense and showcasing court vision by finding cutters and team members on the perimeter.
2022 Kalen White PF Lancaster- White has long arms, good height and is mobile big man that can run the floor and can score on the inside over smaller defender. Had a good weekend and helped his team finish the day undefeated .
2022 Khaden Bennett SG/SF SGP- attacked the rim violently and every opportunity he got he was trying to finish above the rim. He connected on a couple threes and showed good instincts and feel.
2024 Liam Mcneeley SF JJ Pearce- Mcneeley‘s polished game, IQ and touch was very noticeable versus, Lewisville and Lancaster. The Freshman is still learning how to be more aggressive but he is a gifted young prospect that will be special in the future.
