They’re Just Freshman! (D2 Edition)

It’s not very usual that you see College Freshman come into a program in make a huge impact right away. It usually takes them a little time to get adjusted and they may go through learning curves and a few hiccups before they get comfortable and become difference makers for their respective universities. In today’s article I am highlighting multiple D2 College Freshman from Texas who have done the unusual and have played very well so far for this season:

PG Anthony Scott Texas A&M International

The lightning quick Scott has been a reliable playmaker for the Dustdevils this season. Scott’s numbers have gone up in several categories this year especially in scoring and in the assists department. Scott is one of two guards on Texas A&M International who have been productive so far this season.

F Cameron Kahn Dallas Baptist

The versatile Freshman Kahn has shown spectators why he was considered one of the best High School power forwards in Texas last year. Kahn has scored with his back to the basket, facing up and grabbing rebounds on both ends.

PG Elijah Elliott Oklahoma Christian

Elijah has been stellar this season for the Eagles of Oklahoma Christian University. He has made things happen off the bounce at a high level for himself and for others while displaying his hellacious on the ball defense. Elliott is one of the best Freshman Guards not only in his Conference but also the Country.

SG Marco Foster Oklahoma Christian

The Lancaster Flamethrower has brought his shooting talents to Oklahoma and is averaging 13.8 ppg while shooting 42% from behind the arc.

PF Quinntez Grimes UTPB

The explosive face up 4man Grimes has started in every game for the UTPB Falcons and has helped his team win some tough games over couple nationally ranked opponents.

SG Journee Phillips Texas A&M International

I was kind of shocked to see Phi at a D2 because I felt that he was a D1 prospect but I must say it turned out to be a good decision two way guard Phillips and he is being productive in a plethora of ways for his squad.

PF Nyk Madison Oklahoma Christian

Madison may be the biggest surprise on this list because he was the least decorated prospect amongst the guys in this article but he has been equally impressive and has earn the acknowledgment. Madison is a low maintenance athletic workhorse who does all the little things and is a strong finisher around the rim and a tough rebounder for his size.

SG Julien Smith Missouri S&T

Smith has been an offensive monster for his team thus far and has scored on all levels from on and off the ball.

PG Pierre Sanders Midwestern St.

The scoring point guard has not been shy about putting the ball in the rim and he’s not shooting he’s looking to facilitate and create for others.

SG Rommell Williams Midwestern St. Williams has been an efficient scorer who can get to the rim or make shots from deep. Williams and Sanders offensive ability have been vital for the Mustangs all season long.
